Therapies I offer:
I offer relational psychodynamic counselling, EMDR, and NET. Our work together may be short term or long term, depending on your needs.
I also integrate other elements when they are helpful to an individual, such as breath work, mindfulness, and movement.
Counselling
Relational Psychodynamic counselling
I offer a warm and empathic space for exploration, support, learning and change. My focus is on the relationships and connection that we build in the counselling room, with ourselves, and with others around us. In one to one counselling sessions we would work together to find coping strategies that work for you, to reach insights, and to find your own way towards health, authenticity, and positive relationships with yourself and others.
EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing
EMDR is best known as a treatment for PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). However it can be helpful with many kind of difficult experiences, traumas, and anxieties/phobias. In EMDR we focus on an incident, and awaken the body/brains natural healing abilities. This may be through eye movements, or “tapping”. This helps to process experiences that may have been “stuck”, and can change how we relate to those experiences.
NET
Narrative Exposure Therapy
NET is also a trauma focussed therapy. In NET we look at what has happened to you in the context of your whole life. We focus on processing key experiences and traumas, and recontextualising them in the context of your lifeline. By going through an experience in great detail we explore all parts of how it activates or triggers your fear network. By doing this “exposure” to the experience, we reduce the activation it elicits, and we place the experience in the past, where it belongs.
